ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa (May 26, 2022) - The Quality Freight Rate Midwest Power Series presented by GRP Motorsports returns to action this weekend, with another Friday/Saturday double header! To kick things up a notch, GRP Motorsports has kicked in a $1,000 bonus to the winner on Friday night at Rapid Speedway, bringing the total to $2,500 to win!
Last weekend say two first time winners for the series, with Aaron Reutzel power to victory at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, MN and Sam Hafertepe Jr piloting his 360 cubic inch winged sprint car to the winner's circle at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, IA. This weekend the series ventures to Rock Rapids, IA and I-90 Speedway in Hartford, SD for the first time in 2022.
The series has had two events in the Lyon County Fairgrounds of northwest Iowa in the past, both won by Justin Henderson. The 2020 series champion and all time winningest driver captured wins in August of 2020 and June of 2021 to add to his tally of 14 career MPS victories. Henderson will come in as the favorite, but a strong field of cars is expected to challenge the Tea, SD based Driver.
As for I-90 Speedway, this will be the 4th series visit to the Eastern South Dakota track, and the facility boasts 3 different winners in our prior 3 stops. In 2020 Jack Dover took the win. Jack is the all time winningest driver with the Seafoam MSTS presented by Property Solutions of America, and is always a strong competitor at the I-90 Speedway. Last season, two trips to Hartford allowed fans to see ASCS full time driver Ryan Bickett score the victory in June, and Jody Rosenboom take the checkered flag later in the season in July.
Both shows this weekend will be in partnership with the MSTS. The Sioux Falls, SD based series has partnered with the Midwest Power Series at a number of shows over the past half-decade, and all of us with the Midwest Power Series are excited to see that partnership continue this weekend, and in more of 2022.
Drivers and fans can find the lineups, results, live timing and scoring, and play fantasy racing on the MyRacePass app for both shows this weekend and all season long.
