ROCK RAPIDS, IA (May 31, 2022) - On the heels of a doubleheader weekend at Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, IA and I-90 Speedway in Hartford, SD that saw Baltic, SD based driver Troy Schreurs pick up the weekend sweep, both track and series officials with MPS and MSTS decided to do it again!
The series was already scheduled to return to I-90 Speedway on Saturday, June 11, but the Friday previous, June 10th, will be a new addition to the Quality Freight Rate Midwest Power Series presented by GRP Motorsports schedule. The series will again join the Seafoam Midwest Sprint Touring Series presented by Property Solutions of America, continuing what has been a strong partnership in 2022 thus far.
Last week Friday at Rock Rapids saw a great field of 25 cars compete at the Lyon County Fairgrounds, with Troy Schreurs snapping a nearly 7 year long personal winless streak to pick up his first career MPS win. Jack Dover and Chris Martin rounded out the podium.
This will be the fourth series visit to the Rapid Speedway. before Scheurs went to victory lane, both of the previous trips were won by Justin Henderson. The current point leader for the MPS is Courtland, MN driver Javen Osterman, who has a 109 point advantage over Schreurs. 11 points behind him is Christopher Thramm, with rookie Andrew Sullivan and defending champion Brant O'Banion rounding out the top 5.
In MSTS points there is a tie atop the leaderboard, with O'Banion and Osterman sharing the top spot. Schreurs sits just 2 points behind, with Jody Rosenboom and Jack Dover filling out the rest of the top 5 positions.
This coming weekend is a weekend off for both series, so June 10 at Rock Rapids and June 11 at I-90 will serve as the next events on the schedule for both MPS and MSTS.
