Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (Sept. 7, 2022) – Jack Dover recorded a trio of top fives and four top 10s in four features last weekend during The Bull Haulers Brawl presented by Folkens Bros. Trucking.

Dover placed third and fourth, respectively, during Buffalo Wild Wings Northern Outlaw Sprint Association races in the Chris and Rick Bowers’ No. 81 sprint car and he finished sixth and fourth, respectively, behind the wheel of his No. 53 sprint car during Midwest Sprint Touring Series and Midwest Power Series main events.

“I’m happy with how the weekend went,” he said. “We didn’t get a win like I wanted, but to come out of there with almost all top fives except for one – which was a sixth – it was pretty good.”

The weekend started on Saturday with Dover qualifying eighth quickest in the 410 division. A heat race win advanced him into the feature redraw and he pulled the No. 4 to line up on the outside of the second row.

“I got to third early and about 10 laps in I got to second,” he said. “It was a really tricky cushion. The top was dominant. It started building a curb and you couldn’t go in there full bore. You had to ease into it, get your tires spinning and try to finish the corner. I saw (Aaron) Reutzel was getting tighter and tighter when we got to traffic. We caught him and on the last lap I went into turns one and two on the bottom. I didn’t have enough speed and Ian Madsen ended up sliding us into turns three and four so I ended up third. I was close enough to try something for the lead and it cost us a spot.”

Dover maneuvered from fifth to third place in 360 heat race before capping the night with a sixth-place outing in the A Main.

“I need to thank Chris Roseland for letting me use his 360,” he said. “We were pretty good, but I wouldn’t say great. The motor we were using wasn’t updated to the newest ASCS rules so we were probably down 25 horsepower. I could definitely tell coming off the corners. I was happy with finishing sixth.”

Sunday’s 410 action featured Dover qualifying 14th quickest and placing fifth in a heat race before hustling from 13th to fourth in the feature.

“We were picking them off one by one,” he said. “A couple of cars were eliminated in a late crash and we were trying to survive. We were right there with (Brooke) Tatnell and the guys up front. I think we could have had a third-place car, but at the end of the race we were just trying to get a good finish and not force the issue.”

Dover finished the season sixth in the 410 sprint car championship standings at Huset’s Speedway.

Dover ended where he started – seventh – in a 360 heat race before he overcame involvement in an early crash in the B Main to garner a third-place result. That transferred him into the main event, in which Dover charged from 22nd to fifth.

“After the heat race I thought to myself the motor wasn’t getting heat and hitting as hard as it should,” he said. “I went back to an old fuel sheet from five or six years ago. The fuel settings were totally different. It definitely woke the motor up. In the B Main we got in a melee and I want to thank all the drivers and crew guys in the work area who helped get me back out there. We transferred through and didn’t change anything for the A Main. We just put a new wing on that matched the car and then I drove the heck out of it in the feature.”
