The Midwest Power Series recognized the top five drivers in the 2019 point standings, the top rookie, and the 2019 champion Thomas Kennedy at their banquet on November 16 at the Holiday Inn in Fairmont, Minnesota. The banquet was held in conjunction with Jackson Motorplex and the Mastell Brothers Touring Series, as all three groups celebrated successful 2019 seasons.
In addition to our champion Thomas Kennedy from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Lee Grosz of Harwood, ND, Chase Viebrock from New Richmond, WI, James Broty of Lonsdale, MN and his step-brother Scott Broty of Lonsdale completed the top five drivers in points. Scott Broty was also the 2019 Midwest Power Series Rookie of the Year.
It was announced at the banquet that the Midwest Power Series 360 winged sprint cars will make nine appearances at the premier southern Minnesota Jackson Motorplex in 2020. The series will also make appearances at the Cedar Lake Speedway, Princeton Speedway, Ogilvie Raceway, Knoxville Raceway, and team up a couple of times with the MSTS 360 Sprints at I-90 Speedway in Hartford, SD. A couple more tracks have expressed interest, and the series will work on seeing if an agreement can be reached regarding dates for the 2020 season. When the schedule has been determined, it will be posted on the Midwest Power Series Facebook page and here on our website.
On behalf of the Midwest Power Series, a very special thanks goes out to ALL of the drivers, crew members, families, sponsors, race tracks and their employees, and of course the race fans for supporting us during the 2019 season. We look forward to more exciting 360 winged sprint car racing in 2020!
