Another Henderson sweep leads to a $6,000 weekend!

August 22, 2020 (Rock Rapids, IA): Henderson has a $6,000 weekend with another sweep!

Justin Henderson sweeps a Midwest Power Series weekend for the 2nd time this year, this time earning $6,000 for his efforts over two nights. Justin Henderson won last night at the Rapid Speedway for a $2,000 payday, and won again tonight at the Park Jefferson Speedway for another $2,000 check. GRP Motorsports had put up a weekend sweep bonus again this weekend for another $2,000 which Henderson claimed. This is not the first time he’s accomplished the weekend sweep feat this season, doing so at Jackson and Knoxville earlier this season. This extends Henderson’s wins record with the series to 9 in his career.

The Dekalb/Asgrow Midwest Power Series partnered with the Property Solutions of America MSTS and the Carpetland Nebraska 360s presented by Dirt Track Bank to a three series extravaganza at Park Jefferson. Jason Tostenson would draw the pole with Henderson to his outside on the initial start. Tostenson would lead the field in to turns one & two, but Henderson would power around the outside of the Glencoe, MN driver down the back stretch and rocket to the lead. On lap four of the race Cody Ledger would pass Tostenson to move into the runner up spot. He set his sights on the 83, but the former outlaw would slowly increase his lead to 2.5 seconds. At lap six of the race, a caution flag would bring the field back together. Brandon Stevenson and Trent Roth came together on the front stretch sending the Stevenson hardware 29 spinning into turn one. Both cars would be done for the evening. After a couple attempts at a re-start, the field was off and running again.

Another caution on Lap 16 would change things out front, as second place running Cody Ledger spun off of the top of turn number two. Ledger damaged the car enough to be done for the evening, ending what was a very promising night for the Omaha, NE native. From there the final four laps would see Henderson run away from Gregg Bakker and the rest of the field to pick up his fourth Midwest Power Series win of the year. Gregg Bakker crossed the line in second. Jody Rosenboom, Derrk Lusk, and Tostenson rounded out the top five. Joey Danley would pick up the hard charger award for the second consecutive night, charging from his 14th starting spot to finish seventh. The heats were won by Rosenboom, Henderson, and Justin Jacobmsa. Henderson also has taken over the points lead for the Midwest Power Series.
